That is mostly BS. There is one documented marriage between Irish servant "Eleanore Buttler"   and the negro slave Charles around 1680 in, as I recall, Maryland. And according court documents community and her master tried to dissuade her because according to laws from 1664 her children will be slaves too. According to records she told lord Baltimore "... if I am given a choice I will rather have Charles than you ..."   Also her grand children sue the state for freedom (as they are descendant of a free white woman) and won the case around 1750.

The Irish were sent as indentured servants (for a period 7-10 years) not slaves. Initially africans were also used as indentured servants but at around 1650 new laws were passed cementing them as slaves.

That being said, yeas using Irish servants for dangerous jobs vas cheaper than using slaves because if you lose a slave you lose your property and you don't own the Irish so who gives a rat. So yeah there was that.

Well, for not a (fiction) writer your writing rocks. For a first time in quite many years I was rolling-on-the-floor laughing. And Russian is not my first language. As somebody else wrote “your way of painting things with words is delicious”. Can’t believe what will be when you actually “become” a writer. :) cheers !

I really like your style of writing. Viking is no exception. Yes, perhaps some will cringe on the concept of main character being so disadvantaged but alas. Too bad I cant (not allowed) to pay for the rest. Hope the site admins will find a way.

I like your story telling. Only suggestion (not a critique) I have is about the fighting scenes, sword/knife fighting in particular. Please look at some HEMA books and watch some realistic saber fighting (lessons)  on youtube. Most of the fighting scenes in books I have red recently are outright terrible and that for me is a real turn off.  Again, not a critique, I know some Russian / French combat is due in the upcoming chapters and I hope those scenes will be as good as the rest.

In the book MC is thrown in a unfamiliar environment and paired with a wife he neither chosen nor loved. And what does he do? He respects her, empowers her, and supports her.

What else do you expect of him?  To cut his dick off or to adhere to the kolhoz “morale” from 1960 mainstream “literature”. He is a prince for god’s sake. He has a ultimate power, which supposedly corrupts ultimately. In fact, I am expecting him to be much more entitled and selfish.

You don’t like it, write a better story or take a hike.
Thumbs up for the author.  (I read Russian fluently but can’t write or speak well…sorry)
