I've seen Victor von Doom give up virtual omnipotence... twice. I've seen Saren and the Illusive Man willinlgly put bullets through their own brains rather than continue to serve the Reapers. I've seen Teryn Loghain betray his country three times in one month, then sacrifice his life to save it. I've seen Lex Luthor pass up a clear kill shot at Superman's back because he considered keeping his word more important, at least on that day. And I've seen Darth Vader sacrifice his life to save a galaxy.

Funny thing, they were all still bad guys.
