Автор: Homo VulgarisThe first image for the second part of my project, focused on the wars of succession of Alexander’s empire and the Celtic invasion of Greece. The first part, about Alexander’s Asian campaign, is not finished.
The Celts originated in the Alps at the beginning of the Iron Age or possibly at the end of the Bronze Age. Described in Greco-Roman sources as war-like, ferocious, terrifying and uncivilized savages that in some cases would go into battle fully naked to demonstrate that they didn’t fear death (and maybe even covered in either war paints or tattoos that are generally believed to have been blue, although the sources referring to that particular practice are scarce and not very clear, so, despite the popular stereotype, there is some disagreement over it). Other peculiar Celtic practices were bleaching their hair with limewater (which allowed them to shape it as spikes) and taking the heads of the enemies as trophies.
